Made-to-Order & Customisation
Learn how Dar Caftan handles custom measurements and selected adjustments for Moroccan caftans and djellabas, from initial request and measurement guidance to pricing, approval, production, delivery, and returns.
MADE FOR YOUR MEASUREMENTS AND YOUR OCCASION
A Clear, Personal Way to Order
Selected Dar Caftan designs can be prepared using custom measurements or reviewed for specific adjustments. This page explains what can be requested, what information we need, and what must be confirmed before production begins.
What Made-to-Order Means at Dar Caftan
Made-to-order is a guided service attached to selected caftans and djellabas. It may involve preparing an available design to your confirmed measurements, or reviewing a limited change that keeps the character and balance of the original garment.
It does not mean that every product can be redesigned without limits. Fabric availability, decorative placement, garment construction, price, and preparation time can all affect what is possible. A request becomes part of an order only after Dar Caftan confirms it clearly.
Standard Size
Choose an available size shown on the product page and compare your body measurements with our Size Guide. Standard size is the simplest option when your measurements fall comfortably within the stated range.
Custom Measurements
When “Custom Measurements” appears as a product option, we may prepare that design using measurements supplied and confirmed for your order. Additional measurements may be requested according to the cut.
Selected Adjustments
You may ask about changing a specific element, such as length, sleeve proportions, hood shape, neckline, trim, or selected decorative details. Each request is reviewed individually before acceptance.
How the Process Works
The process is designed to keep the product, measurements, price, and timing clear before work begins.
01 — Choose a Design
Begin with a caftan or djellaba from our store. Review its photographs, written description, available sizes, and any custom option shown on the product page.
02 — Send the Details
Use the Contact page and identify the product clearly. Include your body measurements, preferred garment length, event date if relevant, delivery country, and the exact adjustment you want reviewed.
03 — Receive Confirmation
We review feasibility and may ask questions where information is missing or inconsistent. We then confirm the accepted specification, applicable price, and estimated preparation time.
04 — Approve Before Production
Read the final confirmation carefully. Production follows the accepted specification, not an earlier idea or an unconfirmed message. A contact-form submission alone is not acceptance of a custom request.
Measurements We May Request
The required measurements depend on the garment. We may request the following information rather than relying on a size label alone.
Body Measurements
Bust: Around the fullest part, with the tape level across the back.
Waist: Around the natural waist without pulling the tape tightly.
Hips: Around the fullest part with feet together.
Upper arm: Around the fullest part of the arm when required by the sleeve shape.
Garment Proportions
Shoulder width: Across the back from one shoulder point to the other.
Sleeve length: From the shoulder point to the preferred sleeve finish.
Garment length: From the agreed shoulder point to the preferred hem position.
Height: Your full height, together with the footwear planned for the occasion.
Important Measurement Guidance
Send actual body measurements without adding extra centimetres for looseness. Tell us how you want the garment to feel and whether another outfit will be worn underneath; the required allowance is considered separately. Use the same unit throughout, measure over light clothing, and ask another person to help with shoulder and length measurements where possible.
If measurements appear inconsistent, we may pause the process and request confirmation. Customers are responsible for the accuracy of the measurements they provide. Dar Caftan remains responsible for preparing the accepted specification, subject to reasonable production tolerances.

What Can Be Reviewed?
Length and Fit
Overall garment length, sleeve length, sleeve opening, cuff position, and the amount of room requested through the body may be reviewed according to the design.
Construction Details
Selected neckline, hood, belt, fastening, or sleeve adjustments may be considered when they are compatible with the original construction.
Colour and Decoration
A colour, trim, embroidery placement, or decorative element may be reviewed only when the relevant materials and technique are available and the change is suitable for the design.
Not every adjustment is possible. A requested change may alter the balance of the embroidery, the fall of the garment, the price, or the preparation estimate. We describe only what has been confirmed for the specific order.
Price and Preparation Time
The standard product price may not include custom measurements or additional design work. Where a separate “Custom Measurements” variation is available, its current price is displayed on the product page. Other approved changes may require an individual quotation.
Before a non-standard request is finalised, Dar Caftan will confirm the accepted details, additional cost if any, and the best available preparation estimate. Preparation time is separate from carrier transit time and can vary with the garment and requested work.
If the garment is needed for a wedding, Eid, celebration, or another fixed date, contact us before purchasing. Share the date and delivery country so the timing can be reviewed. An arrival date is not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed.
Before You Approve
Confirm the product: Name or link to the exact caftan or djellaba.
Confirm every measurement: Include units and correct any value we query.
Confirm adjustments: Check colours, decorative details, sleeve shape, and length.
Confirm practical details: Review the price, preparation estimate, delivery country, and event date.
Keep the confirmation: It is the reference used for production and for resolving any later discrepancy.
Fit, Changes, and Returns
Realistic Fit Expectations
Custom measurements improve sizing accuracy but do not reproduce an in-person fitting. The final appearance also depends on the garment cut, how the fabric behaves, what is worn underneath, footwear, posture, and personal preference. Small local alterations may sometimes be appropriate after delivery.
Changes and Cancellations
Contact us immediately if an approved order needs to change. A revision is not guaranteed once production begins and may require a new price or preparation estimate. Custom and personalised orders cannot normally be cancelled after work has started.
Returns and Order Problems
Made-to-order, made-to-measure, altered, and personalised garments are generally not eligible for a change-of-mind return. This does not remove applicable rights if an item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the accepted measurements or design specification.
For complete conditions, read our Returns & Refunds and Shipping & Delivery pages.
Made-to-Order Questions
Is every Dar Caftan product customisable?
No. Custom measurements or adjustments are available only when shown or confirmed for the selected design. Some construction or decorative details cannot be changed safely without altering the garment.
Does custom measurement mean a new design from scratch?
No. Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, the service is based on an existing Dar Caftan product and the specific measurements or adjustments accepted for that order.
Can I request a different fabric or colour?
You may ask, but availability must be checked for the individual garment. We will not promise a fibre composition, colour, or material that has not been confirmed.
What happens if a measurement looks incorrect?
We may ask you to measure again before accepting the order. Production should not begin while an essential measurement remains unclear or inconsistent.
Can I change the request after confirmation?
Contact us as quickly as possible. A change may be possible before work begins, but it is not guaranteed afterward and may affect cost or timing.
How do I start?
Choose a design, read its product details, then use the Contact page. Include the product link and enough information for us to understand the request without guessing.
Ready to Discuss Your Garment?
Send the product link, your measurements, delivery country, preferred changes, and required date if applicable. We will review the request and confirm what can be supplied before the order is finalised.
